It's run by Fedecan, a registered Canadian non-profit.
They also run lemmy.ca and I can personally vouch for the team being both great admins and terrific people.

I guess this solves the case of the missing posts too.
#FediDB respecting robots.txt has really changed how stats are tabulated.Prior to this change, there were 997 #Pleroma servers that were counted. Now the count has been reduced to 582.
With #WordPress, the difference is more stark. Prior to the change, there was over 9,000 WordPress servers counted. Now the count is at 3,578 servers.
To be sure, I’m not complaining – privacy is important. But it is to say that #ActivityPub user counts should have a big asterisk: many servers have opted out of being crawled. This means they are not being counted.
FediDB says there are 12,923,059 accounts across the #Fediverse. But this is actually drastically higher.

I was wondering how #mastodon would handle longer blog-style posts with images linked throughout made from #friendica. It seems like it just doesn't. I checked mastodon.social and mas.to and neither are aware of the post I made earlier even though notifier task has completed its notifying.

We can and should make systems that are less likely to lead humans to failure.
The changes introduced by Signal here will lead fewer people to have their account accidentally linked to a malicious client. That's a win.

In my tech work I have watched people work very hard to circumvent security in tech. Usually from a place of ignorance.
Tech can only do so much.

With an organization he can apply for funds and operate it in a free libre way.
With a company he'd probably have to sell you something.
He probably still could, but as long as the core of Pixelfed is maintained (because all software needs maintenance), we can more safely trust that the software will continue to function as expected.
