After fourteen hours of no electricity due to 80mph wind gusts, I can safely say I took electricity for granted. Will I continue to take it for granted? Likely yes...
I remember being in my eighth grade farm/ag class, and I had to choose a country to do a report on. I cheekily chose Saudi Arabia because it's obviously not well-known for their agriculture. But the twist came when the teacher said we had to draw the flag of the country. That made me think twice, but the choice was final.
I've gone from wearing basic collared shirts and jeans, to wearing artistic shirts and leggings. My philosophy used to be "life is short, so why spend time thinking about your clothes?" Now it's "life is short, why spend time wearing clothes that don't reflect who you are?"
Job interviewers be like: Sell me this pen. Me: Would you like to buy the large, extra large, or supreme-sized ink for the pen? Job interviewers: You're hired! Welcome to the movie theater family.
(The joke here is that movie theaters are notorious for renaming their popcorn sizes.)
A guilty pleasure of mine is going on Facebook to watch videos of hydraulic presses going down on random objects. It captivates me. I need to stop feeding the machine.
So I applied for a job at a clothing store and got rejected after the in-person interview. I feel as though I didn't show enough hospitality to the mock customer. Note: I am a trans woman who doesn't present as female in public. I had to dial back my excitedness when offering suggestions for shoes, because in this part of the country, it would seem odd for a "man" to get all excited about matching dresses with heels and handbags. I should have considered that I would be assisting shoppers with clothing decisions. Bah humbug. But maybe I dodged a bullet. I was going in and an employee said "don't do it". What a world.
What a horrible experience. If only we would look at qualities, at the soul, instead of the “packaging” , the appearance. The bulk of humanity is not people-friendly..... But don't give up girl, there is no need to tell you that you have much more in you than those who reject you for who you are. Hugs from Holland!
The last time the Super Bowl was on, I was in the mental hospital and got to watch it with pizza and fruit platters. This time, I'm free but without the pizza and fruit platters. Who is the better person? 😛
There is no place in my heart for techno-fascism. I see the big platforms for what they are: monopolies designed to extract wealth from the working masses. We need to rise up against techno-fascism where it is possible. We need to be the change in the world. Instead of giving an inch to TikTok and the likes, we must pivot to new places like Loops, PeerTube, and other burgeoning platforms.
I am finally getting away from all the big-name social media sites and such. It's a leap, but it's gone much better than I originally anticipated. I still use YouTube and Facebook to a good extent, but I am not as addicted to scrolling and watching as I once was. I can control my habits and it's manifesting into something wonderful. I can't wait to fully migrate myself onto open-source platforms.
I was watching my nephew play basketball between 7 and 9, and it was fun. I cheered him on. The kids kept on fumbling against each other. Then there was a dogpile where team members were ganging up on the poor lad holding the ball. The ref wasn't having any of that. Haha. Good show! His team won: 29 to 7 (I think).
There are way fewer videos on here, but it's a welcomed change. If I wanted to spend time watching videos in the Fediverse, I'd hop on Loops or Peertube.
