New Interview!

blackbirdpublishing.com/interv…

I got interviewed on my short story "Scents Drifting on a Breeze" in Haunted Places, a new anthology that just came out.

Got me out of my cave and back over here so yeah. I'm happy and I'm going to try (yet again) to get at posting regularly. 😁

*deep breaths*

The world, particularly my country, is a dumpster fire and I wish to hell I could fix that. Any of *waves at the US* that.

I... don't see what I can do besides just keeping on writing and publishing and sharing art and supporting people where I can.

I wish so hard that I'd understood when I was like 20-25 that the whole time travel thing about make a tiny change and the whole world changes around you applies to the tiny changes you make in the moment which then propagate out into your future.

I'd have done SO MANY THINGS differently. (wouldn't be in the US, for one thing)

Anyway. It's hard. The world's mess. I have words to create and work-work to do. Time to get back at it.

Dropped out of sight again.

My spouse went on a business trip and came back with a very nasty cold so I kind of lost bandwidth for posting. And, you know, I live in the US so a very large proportion of my open attention span is already captured by All Of That.

Still, I'm getting some things done. I finished a novel that I'd been working on for 2 years. Very happy with it. It's sweet and kind and gentle and everything soft that I need right now.

Also making good progress on the other novel which is Kill All Those Bastards Right Now, which I also need at the moment.

Been messing about in Rebelle 7 creating a piece of art for the gentle novel. I'm quite happy with how it's turning out, though I have a long way to go before it's finished.

(Alt text as I can't see how to put it on the picture: Digital drawing of the ocean with three small islands in the middle done in fall colors with a large island to the left, also in fall colors. There's a roughly sketched cliff with rocks and pine trees on the right that's only half-rendered. At the top are clouds with sheets of rain falling which are very nicely done.)

Lovely, if very cold, morning today

Ponder, ponder...

I'm pondering just what to make from this fabric. It's a lovely summer-weight cotton that feels like it'd be perfect for a light blouse or maybe a dress. The stripes make me want to turn it into drawstring pants but I think it'd tear out in the inseam and seat on the first wear.

So maybe something like a tunic from Gudrun Sjoden? I love her tunics, though I certainly can't afford them. Could work.

You know, after I finish the dozen or so other sewing projects I have backed up.

Hahaha, i know the feeling of buying something, just because you never know what's about to pop up in the mind to create with it!...I 've something alike with yarn... Once i see something beautiful, i need it. Because the ideas are already there. Simple like that! I've read once, a wood sculptor looks at the piece of wood he wants to work with, to watch the lines, the shape, and the gnarls in it and then 'sees' what's coming out of it. So: watch the cloth and imagine the wonderful dress you're going to make! Have fun 🥰

Ugh

January Watercolor

Every year I create my own calendar. Lets me put birthdays and personally significant events on it without the writing against the wall thing. Most of the time I use photos I've taken over the year. When it's not dark before / after work I usually take photos of the sky. The Puget Sound has some lovely sunrises and sunsets on the regular.

This year, I decided that I'd do watercolors since I've been working on my watercolor skills. This one is the January watercolor. They're all water-focused because painting water is my favorite thing to do.

Super happy how this one turned out. I really love the islands in front and the clouds, too.

How beautiful, painting water with water. As water is the element of compassion, life-giving, clearing, it's obvious working with it, is like creating peace. I used to paint in a anthroposophical style, wet in wet. It's peaceful to work this way, your painting shows that same kind of peace .I simply can look at it for a long time, imagining this for being a real place to be. In a world that lacks silence and peace, this is something we need to see much more! I love this! Thank you for sharing, warm greetings from the Netherlands.

So interesting setting up in a new place

Hello New Site

I've been working on divorcing myself from FB and finally hit the point of Oh Fuck It. So now I'm here.

I'm a queer indie author (nonbinary aro/ace) who writes books (SF, Fantasy, Mystery, mostly) and does watercolor and sewing as hobbies.

To say that I'm avoiding looking at the news right now is putting it mildly.

You can find me on Dreamwidth, on Pillowfort and on Mastodon as well.

All my books are available DRM-free from most sites. Still working on getting my website set up for direct sales but hopefully I'll manage that this year. *knocks on wood*

Anyway, I'm hopeful that this won't be misery the way FB has been for literal years.
