Boycotts and power
It felt good to participate in yesterday's economic boycott. All we bought was lunch at a small local restaurant and used cash. (which felt weird itself these days.) I commented on a BlueSky post about the boycott, "No-Buy-Fri sounds good to me going forward." I'm amused that my spontaneous term seems to be liked a lot rather quickly and even reposted. So, yeah, I can do that. NO-BUY-FRI!
Being disabled, I do rely on online shopping for quite a few items. But I've started A) not buying spontaneously so often, B) look elsewhere first for what I need rather than just going to Amazon, and C) looking up what I can get locally. The biggest thing I've found is a good 90% of things are not honestly anything I really need to have that fast. That 2-day or less delivery really was addictive. But I really can do without, and I'm lucky I have people to help if I did. I absolutely am not going to blast anyone else who may choose otherwise, because some people don't live somewhere that a lot of retail options are available. We do what we can.

Still Busy
Goodness gracious. Just over 300 accounts deleted and getting close to done. This is crazy! On the other hand, it does feel really good, like actual spring cleaning. Everything from surveys to shopping to brand newsletters, so much is just not clogging inboxes anymore. The hardest part will be cutting down on Amazon. I can't get rid of it completely for a few necessities on there not available locally, but I can certainly reduce it a LOT. You just don't realize how ubiquitous online signups are for for every little thing until you start cleaning it all up.
Tomorrow we get to go to Costco. Extremely useful and saves money on several things, but it's a very physically exhausting trip for me every time. I'll be looking to see if there are any other things I can get there that I might normally get on Amazon. I'd far rather give money to a company that gives a shit about its employees. BTW, if you ever see the Realgoods brand of frozen chicken tender, they are freaking delicious in an air fryer, I'm just saying. Nom Nom.

Writing
I've been getting some writing done; it feels good. Poems submitted to various places, a few revised, and editing of a flash fiction. I set Outlook (which I never use) to be a visual calendar for me to see when various submission windows are open. We'll see how that goes. There is no budget for task or calendar apps or programs, so hopefully this will help. I can't use my Google calendar as it's full of personal and health stuff and I don't want the two to cross. Now the main work is just finding places to submit stuff so I can block out the dates as "open".
Also, I've less than successfully been trying to to freak out about all the political things happening and how they could destroy my life. My therapist is giving my money's worth, ha ha. I did decide to create a "How to Protest Safely" free little zine and will see about putting it out in Spanish as well. The 8th issue of Rogue's Elixir is also coming out soon. Someone's just finishing up his short story for it. I've got the interior and cover art ready to go.
Words are powerful. Use them.

A Few Hobbies and Likes

It appears we have at least one hobby in common. I love electronics. I have a few Arduino and ESP-32 project kits and I love playing with robotics.
I am very new to the Fediverse though seeing you can categorize your posts I suppose blogging would not be as bad as on fb? I usually use my personal website for my blogging and then share the blogs to social media.
By the way if you are interested freehosting.com/ is the only truly free host I have found. They do not inject ads into your content either. I have paid a one time fee for a few extra addons to my account though other than the SSL (which I would recommend to everyone) you may not need one.

When you upload and attach an image to a post on Friendica there is no nice interface for adding alt-text like there is on Mastodon. You have to manually add it to the BBcode:
[img=https://friendica.world/photo/preview/1024/9320632]Alt text description goes here.[/img]
If you upload the photos to an album you can edit the photo there and anything you put in the "Caption" field will become the alt-text for that image when you attach it to a post in the future.
