@fxomt That's because friendica.world is quite new, lol. Back when I joined, mine was among the biggest and a few others like venera.social. I don't know what ruud is doing, but whenever he starts a server for a new platform, it is doomed to boom. It's at least the 2nd time it happens after Lemmy.
Btw, to find and follow some accounts, follow hashtags, lists of popular accounts like this one, @FediFollows, browse the Friendica directory, or follow Flipboard accounts. If you can't find anything, you can also paste a website in the search bar and it will find it's RSS feed.

Welcome to Friendica.World !
I had set this server up a while ago, but with the recent FB drama, we see a lot of new users registering. Almost a thousand, and counting!
Let's first introduce myself, I am Ruud, a database admin from The Netherlands who as a hobby hosts Fediverse instances like mastodon.world, lemmy.world and a lot of others.
Together with @stux⚡ I founded a non-profit foundation for owning our instances: fedihosting.foundation.
The Friendica.World server isn't 100% ready, there's still some tweaking and polishing needed. For example we need to add a ToS and rules. They will be the same as on mastodon.world/about
Also, we are still trying to resolve an issue where the jobs aren't being processed as quickly as we would like. We've opened an issue with the Friendica developers: github.com/friendica/friendica…
Currently there are 612000 jobs still pending and daily this gets down by 39000 jobs, so after 16 days it should be at 0 and everything should be instantaneous. We're hoping we can somehow speed this up.
Result of this issue is that things are lagging behind, like federation to other servers (mastodon, other friendica's etc), notifications etc.
We hope you'll bear with us until this is fixed.

Hello All!
I'm mainly enjoying my time on calckey.world, but I've been exploring a few Fediverse offerings - inspired by @Elena Rossini on Sharkey
I just wanted to share a quick observation here.
First, for whatever reason, Friendica does not handle the "Latest Activity" Channel very well. When I try to use that "filter", the page doesn't load or takes a very long time. Even if the page loads properly, the feed does not refresh as per settings.
For now, I've simply removed that Channel to avoid the issue. I'm fairly new and couldn't figure out the difference between latest post vs latest activity anyway.
Second, another issue is when I try to load the "Groups" Circle, the page does load slowly. I only have 5 lemmy groups there to test things out. I'm guessing something isn't playing well there.

Here we go again, with the same old questions that were never answered or resolved.
I have an old post of mine that I want to edit on Friendica. I can go to the site and see it. I can even click on "edit". Then, no matter what I do, I am unable to change anything. I am put in a text edit box, and when I leave it, I am sent back to the page, as if I never hit "edit" at all. In the past, I have, with extreme patience and a lot of wasted time, been able to edit posts from the main site, but this time, it's not working. I'm not sure if it's simply a lack of screen reader accessibility or if there is a time limit to edit posts. This one that I specifically put on my profile for people to read. If posts expire or if I can't properly edit them, I will need to delete this repost it, then readd it to my profile. Even Tweesecake can't help, since the post is beyond its time range! Can anyone please help me? I don't know why certain things on Friendica are so difficult to do with screen readers.

in reply to phle • • •@phle There are also some gloves that allow you to use the touchscreen too. I have a pair, and I can only use my pointer fingers with them, but they work brilliantly.
The alternative would be to sew a conductive wire yourself into an existing pair of gloves of yours, but for me, I found out that this option is more expensive and not worth the hassle.

I actually bought some some years ago. I've been using them enough for them to "give up", but I actually have a second pair (that I bought at the same time) laying around ... somewhere.
... it's just that it feels weird / seems silly to have outdoor gloves on indoors.
Then again, I wear work gloves indoors. Hm.
(Had to check them up: "glider gloves" ... bought them 2018. 🙈)
