Newbie question

How does one create lists...So I can sort feeds into categories... IE- Real Life Friends, News, Film, etc?

Thanks!

in reply to Helen Jojo Blackforest

The thing you're looking for is circles.

1.) Click on the people shaped "Contacts" icon up top.
2.) Select the "Circles" tab on the upper right side of the menu bar.
3.) On the left, next to "Circles", click the plus sign to create a new circle.
4.) Enter a name for the circle and press enter.
5.) Click the plus sign to the right of the people you want to add to that circle.
6.) Return to the square shaped "My friends conversations" icon up top, and select the circles you want to view.

Alternatively, you can search for an item (either a search term of a hash tag), and then there is a floppy disk sign on the upper right to save the search. That is then available in your friends conversations screen under "Saved Searches".

Newbie question - federated posting

How does one link posts from my home Mastodon to this place?
I'd like to make Mastodon my main independent social home but post in a variety of places.

I'm 59! Help me.

in reply to Green Hombre

Not sure if this is what you are looking for, but I went to Mastodon, grabbed my full profile @name@server and searched for it from the search bar on the top, then clicked Follow.

It isn't reposting or crossposting, but I see my Mastodon posts in my Circles / Feed here.

in reply to Green Hombre

Short answer and unsatisfying answer, pay for it. It's not really a functionality that exists within the site, to my knowledge.

fedi.tips/crossposting-between…

However, you can do it manually on here by searching for your mastodon handle with an @ in front of it, following it, and then resharing anything that the account posts. Not automatic, but free.

I'm Here!

Just a quick word to the Fediverse that I have arrived!

I’m trying out the Metatext app (iOS) to read Mastodon feeds: not bad at all! Also nice: I had no trouble adding a Friendica account to it. So I can switch between them. Nice…

Thank you for the recommendation. I should check that app out!

Deleted a couple of posts that, upon rereading, came off as passive-aggressive.
