“Hitler's Enabling Act (1933) let his cabinet bypass parliament while claiming to ‘save democracy.’

Yesterday's Executive Order lets White House control all independent agencies while claiming to ‘restore democracy.’

They're not even changing the playbook. It couldn't be more obvious but they're disguising it all in democratic language to fool lesser civically-minded citizens.

See the comparison below between yesterday's EO and The Enabling Act.”

The righteous #LetitiaJames, NY AG told hospitals "they would be violating state law if they stop offering gender-affirming care for people under age 19 in response to an executive order from Trump aimed at curtailing federal funding for such treatments."

I hope this means that NY Langone Health will either get sued for denying on 2.2.25 gender-affirming care to 2 12 year-olds or will reverse their loathsome decision.

China Tariffs

China retaliates against Trump's tariffs by imposing 15% tariff on U.S. coal and LNG products
February 04, 2025

The Chinese government said that it would also implement a 10% tariff on crude oil, agricultural machinery and large-displacement cars. The 10% tariff that President Donald Trump ordered on China was set to go into effect Tuesday, though Trump planned to talk with Chinese President Xi Jinping in the next few days.

The U.S. Congress passed a law about the data breach risk of TikTok.

The U.S. Congress has done nothing about the richest man in the world and his pet potus who launched the data breach of the U.S. Treasury, took control of it out of Congress’ Constitutionally empowered hands and just took the financial information of every single American and company and will keep, sell or use that data later for whatever they wish.

Is someone doing something about this? Politics usa

“The most common question I saw across social media and in the comments was understandable: Is somebody doing something about this?

The short and important answer is yes. And we need to understand a few things to help bring things into focus.

First, the timing of all of this was intentional. It all went down on a Friday night, when there would be less ability among affected employees to communicate and resist; decreased national press attention; and closed congressional offices, courthouses and law offices. They wanted us to panic for several days and make us feel like we were rudderless and without clear options.

But today is the first business day after last Friday’s bombshells, and I can report confidently that the anti-Trump/Musk response is well underway.…”

Wow, this is a very useful text (and also clearly shows why right now only users that are either nerds and/or pretty devoted to the fediverse use it: so much of it doesn't really work (yet) or only in a roundabout way)! Thank you so much, Walter!

“….I asked my former Senator, Doug Jones, if it matters when Americans contact their senators, and this is what he told me: “What the Administration is doing affects everyone, and it is through the collective voices of Americans to their elected representatives that such hurtful and shameful policies can be stopped. Don’t wait on others. Be the one to cast the pebble into the pond and start the ripples of change.”

….Donald Trump is known to back down in the face of sustained opposition. Let’s get to work on that. Take courage from what’s happening among the ranks of career civil servants.

Take heart, and remind yourself of the words said by Revolutionary War sea captain John Paul Jones when the British demanded that he surrender his outmaneuvered frigate, already beginning to sink. “I have not yet begun to fight,” he told them. Ultimately, he won the battle.”

#CDC An expansion of an emerging censorship regime at the CDC.

The CDC has instructed its scientists to retract or pause the publication of any research manuscript being considered by any medical or scientific journal, not merely its own internal periodicals, Inside Medicine has learned. The move aims to ensure that no “forbidden terms” appear in the work. The policy includes manuscripts that are in the revision stages at journal (but not officially accepted) and those already accepted for publication but not yet live.
In the order, CDC researchers were instructed to remove references to or mentions of a list of forbidden terms: “Gender, transgender, pregnant person, pregnant people, LGBT, transsexual, non-binary, nonbinary, assigned male at birth, assigned female at birth, biologically male, biologically female,” according to an email sent to CDC employees (see below).” Jeremy Faust MD

“…According to a news release from the Department of Finance, the first $30-billion phase of the Canadian counter-tariff response will hit American products like orange juice, peanut butter, wine, spirits, beer, coffee, appliance, apparel, footwear, motorcycles, cosmetics and pulp and paper.

The second, $125-billion phase will include products like passenger vehicles and trucks, steel and aluminum products, certain fruits and vegetables, aerospace products, beef, pork, dairy, recreational vehicles and recreational boats, the news release said.

Finance Minister Dominic LeBlanc said in an interview on Rosemary Barton Live that the first phase is largely "consumer goods that we would import from the United States for which there is a replacement" from other countries…”
