A promo record released by Yamaha Stuidos Japan to demonstrate the Yamaha GS-1 synthesizer. Featuring keyboardist Keiko Doi from the all female synthesizer trio Cosmos, some funky bass lines, cool drum breaks, pretty amazing 80s session photos on the cover, and adorable liner notes its a fun bargin bin pick up.

Sunday Coffee & Tunes 12/01/25

Today's selection is 80s post punk outfit Rip Rig + Panic. A surprise find from yesterday. Featuring members of the pop group, Neneh Cherry, and some guest spots from Ari Up and Don Cherry. This post-punk and jazz album is not only a powerhouse of talent but sounds fresh and ahead of its time.

Sunday Coffee & Tunes 5/01/2025

Today we dig deep into the sounds of Japanese Wamono - Japanese jazz, funk, soul, rare groove, and disco. Each volume has a slightly different sound. The first one, like most comps, is probably my favourite. The third one is for the city pop lovers and contains Kimono, which I put on many playlists. Plus, that album cover is stunning in pink. 🩷✌️🇯🇵

January Watercolor

Every year I create my own calendar. Lets me put birthdays and personally significant events on it without the writing against the wall thing. Most of the time I use photos I've taken over the year. When it's not dark before / after work I usually take photos of the sky. The Puget Sound has some lovely sunrises and sunsets on the regular.

This year, I decided that I'd do watercolors since I've been working on my watercolor skills. This one is the January watercolor. They're all water-focused because painting water is my favorite thing to do.

Super happy how this one turned out. I really love the islands in front and the clouds, too.

How beautiful, painting water with water. As water is the element of compassion, life-giving, clearing, it's obvious working with it, is like creating peace. I used to paint in a anthroposophical style, wet in wet. It's peaceful to work this way, your painting shows that same kind of peace .I simply can look at it for a long time, imagining this for being a real place to be. In a world that lacks silence and peace, this is something we need to see much more! I love this! Thank you for sharing, warm greetings from the Netherlands.

Thank you! I try and paint the things I see around me, not like taking a photo but as they inspire me. The Puget Sound, WA has so many places like this that it frequently shows up in my art.

Appalachian Trail. So you still have do some 500 miles? Never tried something like that. My longest hike was just 150 miles in the German Eiffel region.

Closer to 600 left...I've finished the White Mountains, but still have some very hard stuff to do in Maine....but also some much easier stuff in CT and Mass. I'll have to look up the German Eiffel region....I've never hiked there

Bad News Thursday
It has appeared as though my mood has dipped in a rather inconvenient fashion and now I am trying to cope with that. Sleep deprivation and listening to a sad audiobook probably didn't help with that. Lol Here's to hoping that I'll get distracted enough for that to go away.
